EDITOR’S NOTE: Dasha Kelly was misidentified as the mother of three children in initial media reports. According to CNN, Kelly later clarified that she is the girlfriend of the children’s father and helps take care of them. The biological mother also provides care for the children, according to the CNN report. GoFundMe says the funds are on hold pending verification and that no money has been released.

A mother and her three children in Las Vegas who were facing eviction will be able to stay in their home, thanks to the kindness of strangers.
Dasha Kelly wasn’t sure how she was going to be able to pay her back rent. She told her story to CNN on Monday during a story about the end of the eviction moratorium.
But within 24 hours, CNN was back at Kelly’s door to tell her that more than $170,000 had been raised for her family.
Kelly had lost her job as a card dealer when casinos were forced to close because of the coronavirus pandemic.
She told CNN that she wasn’t sure what she and her daughters were going to do.
That amount has since grown to more than $203,000 from more than 3,000 donors. Some donations were as little as $20 while one woman gave $15,000, the GoFundMe page said.
“It gave me a lot of hope,” Kelly told CNN. “And I just want to make sure I do the best that I can to help the next person in my same situation.”
While the federal eviction moratorium expired over the weekend, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued a new measure on Tuesday that will last until Oct. 3, The Associated Press reported.
The Biden administration allowed the original measure to expire, saying that a Supreme Court ruling prevented it from being extended, the AP reported.
On Tuesday afternoon, however, President Joe Biden appealed to the CDC to figure out a way to have an eviction moratorium in place, even if it is challenged in the courts, saying it would give state and local governments time to get money to families facing being kicked out of their homes, the AP reported.
