Sisolak, who was driving his Lexus alone without his security detail, was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

According to a police accident report released Wednesday, the other driver, a 30-year-old woman, was cited for speeding, the newspaper reported. The accident occurred at 12:40 p.m. PDT.

Both Sisolak and the woman suffered minor injuries, KLAS reported. Both were treated at an area hospital, the television station reported.

Because Sisolak, 67, “attempted a left turn on a flashing yellow arrow, failing to yield the right of way to northbound traffic, (the governor) was determined to be at fault for the collision,” the traffic report stated.

KVUU reported that the woman was driving 62 mph in a 45 mph zone 1.5 seconds before the crash and had slowed down to 43 mph at the moment of impact. Sisolak’s vehicle was measured at 15 mph at the time of impact, the television station reported.

Meghin Delaney, the governor’s communications director, said Sisolak typically travels with his security detail, which includes a driver, but is not required to do so, the Review-Journal reported.

Sisolak, who spoke at a traffic safety summit on Wednesday, joked about the incident, the newspaper reported.

“Some would probably find it ironic that I’m at a traffic safety symposium after the weekend I had,” Sisolak said. “I have a better appreciation for what all of you do after what I went through. I really am appreciative and thankful to be here today.”
