In video posted to the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, a deputy is seen climbing into a hole, grabbing a baby deer, and bringing the animal back up to the surface.

The sheriff’s office said that the fawn had fallen into a hole at a construction site, WSB-TV reported. Investigators told the station that they believe the baby deer had been stuck for a couple of days before anyone called for help.

In the video, as soon as the deputy put the deer down on the ground, the animal ran away into the woods nearby. The video’s caption says simply, “Never a dull moment.”
