Tony Award-nominated Broadway star Nick Cordero died Sunday morning, nearly four months after he was hospitalized with complications from the novel coronavirus, his wife, Amanda Kloots, announced on social media. He was 41.
“God has another angel in heaven now,” Kloots said of Cordero, who suffered numerous health problems during his hospitalization and had his right leg amputated. “My darling husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.”
In addition to Kloots, Cordero is survived by the couple’s 1-year-old son, Elvis Eduardo.
Several celebrities and public figures, including actor Zach Braff and "Hamilton" creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, took to social media to share their memories of Cordero. Here's what they were saying:
Nick Cordero passed at 11:40am today with his mother and wife by his side. I can honesty tell you I have never met a kinder human being. Don’t believe that Covid only claims the elderly and infirm.
