Shannon Frendreis let her friend borrow her prosthetic leg to catch a ball that was thrown into the stands during a game earlier this season.

She told WGN the viral moment started with them waving the leg toward the Guaranteed Rate Field bullpen to get someone’s attention.

“It started out as a joke to see if we could get the attention of anyone in the bullpen,” Frendreis told WGN. “We had the leg up in the air for a couple of minutes.”

Frendreis told WGN a couple of beers were involved and strangers gave them the idea to use the leg as a mitt.

Eventually, someone did notice and they were able to snag a ball tossed into the stands.

Video of the leg-raising catch was posted to TikTok on Oct. 2 and has had more than 3.3 million views, NBC News reported.
