Ohio man paints massive patriotic mural

SALINEVILLE, Ohio — An Ohio man painted a large mural with a patriotic message on what used to be a horse arena.

The mural, which is 60 feet wide and 25 feet tall, depicts members of the military and the slogan, “God bless America,” WTOV reported.

Joey Wilson of Salineville painted the mural at the request of the building’s owners, James Beadnell and Tracy Beadnell.

“Well, we just feel that every year our military and our veterans get a little less recognition,” James Beadnell told WTOV. “And this building was needing re-done, so we felt we would put something patriotic on it.”

Wilson was more than happy to oblige.

“It was real neat to have two people say, ‘Look, let’s do something huge; let’s do something patriotic,‘” Wilson told WTOV.

Wilson admitted it was a challenge to paint in the summer heat of southeastern Ohio.

“Blistering heat. I mean, we’re talking airbrushing that was like standing in front of an oven door,” Wilson told WTOV. “It was very hot and uncomfortable.”

Wilson, however, was pleased with the finished product.

“This isn’t just the biggest. It’s the one I’m most proud of,” Wilson told WTOV. “This will always be my best work, this is really a thoughtful piece-- not just from the owners, but from my heart.”
