COLUMBUS, Ga. — A Georgia couple is accused of possessing more than $2,000 worth of narcotics in a home where three children lived in “deplorable” conditions, authorities said.
Kristy Hurst and Tony Aguilar, of Muscogee County, were arrested Tuesday and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession and use of a drug-related object and reckless conduct, according to Muscogee County online booking records.
Deputies with the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office were conducting a sex offender check when they discovered 12.5 grams of methamphetamine, WRBL-TV reported. The street value of the narcotics was estimated at $2,250, according to WTVM.

Muscogee County Sheriff Greg Countryman said the children in the home were living in “deplorable” conditions, with drugs within their reach, the television station reported.
The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services was notified and the children were removed from the home, Countryman said in a statement.
An investigation is ongoing, Countryman said.
