A text message sent from the victim’s phone to one of her parents prompted them to contact police, who traced the phone’s location to Loa, 87 miles away from where the victim had last been seen, KTVX reported. The ensuing police investigation led them to a home where they found the victim naked in a coal storage area covered in coal, KTVX reported.

Police arrested Brent Brown, who allegedly arranged to meet the victim using an app, KSL-TV reported. Police said the victim told them the suspect attacked and threatened her, saying “Brown told her he had mailed her phone to the Arizona/Mexico border so nobody could locate her,” KSL-TV reported.

Police who searched the house initially said they found a college ID belonging to the victim and a gun.

Brent Brown is charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated kidnapping and obstruction of justice, and a judge ruled that he be held without bail, KSTU reported.
