PUEBLO WEST, Colo. — A black-footed ferret, the rarest mammal in North America, made its way into a Colorado home’s garage.
The home’s owner in Pueblo West called Colorado Parks and Wildlife, who came to remove the animal.
The ferret wandered to the home from the nearby Walker Ranch, where Fox 31 reports Colorado Parks and Wildlife has been releasing black-footed ferrets onto a prairie dog colony as part of a conservation effort underway with federal partner agencies.
The homeowners coaxed the ferret into a box. Officials with Colorado Parks and Wildlife posted video on Twitter of officers releasing the animal back onto the prairie dog colony.
