“With a broken heart and in deep grief I must announce that Jake Flint has tragically passed away,” his manager, Brenda Cline of Route 66 Management, said late Sunday.

“I loved him much like a son. The funniest, most hilarious, hardest working, dedicated artist I have ever worked with in my career. We were just about to embark on some business together after he and Brenda got married- which was yesterday.

“Yes-yesterday. Jake has a million friends and I’m not sure how everyone will cope with this tragic loss. We need prayers- it’s all so surreal. Please, please pray for his new wife Brenda, Jake’s precious mother, his sister and the rest of his family and friends.

”Flint’s wife, Brenda Wilson Flint, posted a 30-second clip of the two taking wedding photos, and a caption that read, “I don’t understand.” The couple married Saturday at a homestead between Claremore and Owasso, Oklahoma.

A cause of death was not announced.

According to Flint’s website, the Red Dirt singer-songwriter was born in 1985, raised in Holdenville and lived in Mounds. Some of his songs included “What’s Your Name?,” “Hurry Up & Wait,” “Long Road Back Home” and “Cowtown.”

Flint recorded and released the 2018 album “Live and Not OK at Cain’s Ballroom;” 2020′s “Jake Flint;” and 2021′s “Live and Socially Distanced at Mercury Lounge.”

Mike Hosty, who played at the wedding, posted Monday a video snippet from the wedding that captures Flint singing to his new bride.

“When I got done, we all just went out to the barn, and someone had an acoustic guitar and people were passing it around. People were just singing around the campfire ... and Jake sang to Brenda. And as he was singing, I go, ‘I better record this,’” Hosty said.
