Report of active shooter was April Fools’ Day joke, police say

CLARK COUNTY, Ohio — A report of an active shooter at an Ohio plant turned out to be just an April Fools’ Day joke, but it has landed a woman in trouble with the law.

Police told WHIO a woman at the Navistar Plant in Clark County, Ohio, texted her sister that there was an active shooter at her work. The sister called 911 Thursday morning to report the alleged gunman.

Law enforcement from across the county responded.

Police said they responded within two minutes of the 911 call and found nothing when they entered the facility. They were eventually told the report was an April Fools’ Day joke, WHIO reported.

The worker, who was not identified, has been arrested. The charges she is facing have not been released.
