According to The Associated Press, Starbucks is planning to spend $450 million over the next year to make stores in North America more efficient for employees and customers.

Starbucks is also planning to open about 2,000 new stores in the United States by 2025, according to the AP. They will be focusing on drive-thru, mobile ordering and delivery.

Starbucks is hoping that a new workstation setup will help employees make customizable cold drinks with less movement and cut down the time it takes to make them, said the AP. Along with that, the company will be introducing a new patented technology that will cut the time it takes to make a cold brew from 20 hours to seconds.

According to the AP, Starbucks will also increase its number of hot food items, with the hopes of serving 300 million breakfast sandwiches across the county this year.

Employees will also be seeing some changes including flexible scheduling, more sick time accrual and expanding the ability for mobile app customers to be able to tip, said the AP.
