Tyler Perry donates van to woman handing out sanitary products to homeless

ATLANTA — Entertainer Tyler Perry donated a new van to an Atlanta woman who hands out "Love Bags" filled with hygiene products to people experiencing homelessness around the city after her old car had had enough.

Since the coronavirus pandemic started, Project U First has handed out more than 16,000 bags filled with health and hygiene products that those experiencing homeless do not have easy access to, WSB-TV reported.

Erica Wright has spent the last 6 years filling the bags and distributing them in a 2008 Honda Civic that was barely hanging on. Perry donated a 2020 Ford transit cargo van to help Wright, WSB-TV reported.

“If our homeless are not clean and they don’t have the things that they need, it is definitely going to affect our environment,” Wright said. “Now I truly understand to give a person eye contact, to stop and listen to their story. We’re giving items out, but we’re also giving compassion and conversation and love.”
