DENVER — Authorities in Denver are investigating a fatal escalator accident following a Saturday night Kenny Chesney concert at Empower Field at Mile High.
According to the Denver Police Department, a woman was sitting on an escalator railing at the stadium and fell to the concourse below, KMGH-TV reported.
The woman, who has not been identified publicly, died as a result of her injuries, and investigators confirmed that they are investigating the incident as an accidental death, The Denver Gazette reported.
According to KMGH, Chesney released a statement saying he was “devastated” to learn of the woman’s death.
“There had been so much joy, so much heart coming from the people of Denver last night — and to hear this is heartbreaking,” the statement read.
Update: An adult female guest at Empower Field at Mile High was sitting on an escalator railing, fell to the concourse below, and died as a result of the injuries. This is being investigated as an accidental death.

Meanwhile, stadium officials released the following statement regarding the accident:
“We extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the woman involved in the tragic incident that occurred at the end of Saturday’s concert at Empower Field at Mile High. There is nothing more important than the safety of our guests, and Stadium Management Company is in communication with the Denver Police Department as it investigates this unfortunate situation.”
