Keep your Orlando Toyota safe in bad weather!

We all know it’s inevitable – in Central Florida, summer means afternoon thunderstorms. Most of the time they’re more of a nuisance than anything, but sometimes they can be dangerous and cause damage to homes and vehicles. That’s why Toyota of Orlando wants to ensure that you’ve got the information you need to protect your new Toyota when bad weather comes calling. We gathered tips from both our knowledgeable sales associates and our Toyota Service Center, so you know you’re getting help from the best. Don’t let bad weather damage your car – let us help!

How will you protect your new Toyota in Orlando in the event of bad weather?

First, think of how you’ll protect your new Toyota in Orlando when bad storms roll in. Do you have a private or public garage you can leave it in? Spots like that are ideal, but even covered parking or a carport can help minimize damage from elements like hail. Still, if you find yourself having to park your vehicle in a carport or leaving it out in the open, you should try to cover it the best you can. Invest in a car cover or even a sturdy tarp – this can help prevent damage from small debris caught by the wind, or even small hail stones. Make sure you tie the covering down securely so it doesn’t get pulled off in heavy winds!

Also, be aware of water. It may seem laughable but floods happen every day and they happen fast. Make sure you don’t park your new Toyota in an especially low-lying area if bad weather is coming. Water damage can be very expensive to repair! If you find yourself with a flooded vehicle, don’t try to start it – instead, have your car towed to a Toyota Service Center to be checked out thoroughly. They can make necessary repairs and also clean/replace damaged interior materials.

Try not to drive in bad storms! Not only do you run the risk of your new Toyota getting hit with hail and debris, it’s also extremely dangerous and could lead to a traffic accident. Stick close to home in exceptionally bad weather, and also remember not to drive through puddles if you can avoid it. Puddles can be deceiving in terms of depth, and you don’t want to find yourself stalled out in water that’s rising!

Last but not least, be proactive! Check the weather to see when thunderstorms are approaching and be aware of their severity. That way, you can plan ahead to ensure that your vehicle is protected. A lot of our new Toyota in Orlando come with Entune, which is a set of multimedia apps that includes comprehensive and up-to-the-minute weather information. You can check the day’s forecast without even leaving the driver’s seat!
