Banchero scores 27 in debut, Magic fall to Pistons 113-109

DETROIT, Mich. -- Paolo Banchero scored 27 points in his NBA debut, but his Orlando Magic lost to Detroit 113-109 in Wednesday’s season opener.

He is the first No. 1 pick to finish with at least 25 points, five rebounds and five assists in their debut since LeBron James in 2003.

Jalen Suggs finished with 21 points and scored eighteen in the third quarter. He finished 4-6 from downtown. All five Magic starters finished in double figures and Bol Bol added ten points off the bench.

The Magic (0-1) return to action Friday night in Atlanta before hosting Boston on Saturday.
