American releases UCF 2014 home & away opponents

ORLANDO, Fla. — The American Athletic Conference announced home and away opponents for the 2014 football season Wednesday.

UCF will entertain SMU, Temple, Tulane and Tulsa at Bright House Networks Stadium, and will travel to UConn, East Carolina, Houston and USF.

The Knights will open 2014 in Ireland with the Croke Park Classic against Penn State Aug. 30, and also battle BYU (home) and Missouri (away) in non-conference play. The full UCF football schedule for the 2014 season will be released when it is finalized.

The Knights secured the inaugural American Athletic Conference title with a perfect 8-0 league record. They ultimately finished 2013 at 12-1 and ranked No. 10 in the final Associated Press Poll. UCF took down two top-10 teams in the process, including a Tostitos Fiesta Bowl victory over Baylor.

UCF had 11 players on all-conference teams in 2013, tying for the most in the league, while George O’Leary was unanimously selected as The American’s Coach of the Year.
