Solar Bears fall to Wings 4-1 on St. Patrick's Day

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Scott Tanski scored his third goal in two games but it was not enough as the Solar Bears fell 4-1 to the Kalamazoo Wings on St. Patrick's Day at Wings Stadium.

The Solar Bears got on the board first, capitalizing on a power play with just over five minutes left in the frame. D Bryce Aneloski took the puck up the right wing and slid a pass to F Scott Tanski, who redirected the pass over the line. Kalamazoo answered back with just 12.9 second to go in the first period when a shot from D Joe Sova found the stick of D Dustin Cloutier, and he deposited a backhand shot past G Cody Reichard to tie the game at 1-1 heading to the second stanza.

Kalamazoo grabbed the lead 5:27 into the middle frame. C Matt Caria fed a saucer pass across the slot to F Nick Sirota, and he snapped a shot into the top left corner of the net. It was the lone goal of the second period, as Kalamazoo held the 2-1 lead going into the third.

RW Chris Lawrence opened up a two goal lead for the Wings when he wound up for a slapper at the left point and ripped the shot into the top corner of the net during 4-on-4 action as the Wings took the 3-1 advantage at 3:29 of the frame. C Justin Taylor would add the final goal of the net on an empty net with 46 seconds left to play to bring the contest to the final 4-1 score.
