Solar Bears Shut Down By Cyclones, 4-0

CINCINNATI — The Orlando Solar Bears fired 28 shots on goal but could not solve Cincinnati Cyclones goaltender Zoltan Hetenyi in a 4-0 loss to the Cincinnati Cyclones at U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday night.

The Cyclones came out firing in the first period, blasting 13 shots on goal during the opening frame. Halfway through the first period, G John Curry made an incredible glove save to keep the game scoreless, but Cincinnati eventually struck to take a 1-0 lead. A shot from D Taylor Ellington was stopped by Curry, but RW Mathiue Aubin pounced on the rebound with 3:11 left in the period for the lone goal of the opening frame.

Aubin struck again 7:10 into the second stanza. A shot from F John McFarland was stopped by Curry, but once again Aubin was open on the doorstep to tap home a rebound and put Cincinnati ahead 2-0. With 3:30 left in the second, F David Pacan increased the lead to 3-0, when he curled out of the left corner and picked the top right corner of the net. The period ended with Cincinnati holding the 3-0 advantage.

The power play would once again help the Cyclones late in the third period. F Mike Embach collected a loose puck off a faceoff and F Tommy Lange redirected his shot just past Curry with 1:02 left in the contest to secure a 4-0 win for the Cyclones.
