While she loved her time in Florida, she received an offer to anchor and report for the FOX affiliate in Baltimore -- jumping 20 markets to a larger audience and more responsibility.

In Baltimore, Karen covered the D.C. Sniper case, the Baltimore riots and other stories of national interest.

Always seeking a challenge, Karen left TV news when she was tapped to become the executive director of communications for Baltimore Schools.

The position was actually a return to her first love, education.

Prior to her journalism career, Karen taught in Atlanta’s Fulton County Public Schools and spent three years with Montgomery County Schools in Maryland.

A homegrown Georgia Peach from Atlanta, Karen received a bachelor of arts in English from the illustrious Spelman College and received a dual master’s degree in early childhood education and reading from Clark Atlanta University.

She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Coalition of Black Women.

She is thrilled to be back in Florida, where she enjoys the beaches, sun and Channel 9. She looks forward to seeing what the next chapter of her life will bring.
