As temperatures plummet tonight into the 20s, residual water or snow melt on the ground will re-freeze which will create areas of ice on roadways, bridges and overpasses. Black ice will cause dangerous driving conditions. The most widespread black ice will be across southeast Georgia generally along and north of the Highway 84 corridor from Jesup toward Waycross and Homerville. Although less ice coverage is expected toward the Atlantic coast and across northeast Florida, the potential will exist for black ice, especially on poor drainage secondary roads. Temperatures on Thursday are expected to be above freezing by 11 am. $$
