Hurricane Sam to pass well east of Bermuda; Tropical Storm Victor continues to strengthen

ORLANDO, Fla. — Channel 9 continues to track Hurricane Sam and Tropical Storm Victor. Read updates below:


5 a.m. update

Hurricane Sam

Hurricane Sam is expected to pass well to the east of Bermuda.

Tropical Storm conditions are expected on the island by Friday night or early Saturday.

Sam is still a Category 4 hurricane. The storm’s winds are near 150 mph.

Forecasters expected Sam to start to weaken over the next few days.

The National Hurricane Center expects Sam to remain a major hurricane through at least Saturday night.

Sam will bring a risk of rip currents to beaches along the Atlantic coast, including Central Florida beaches.

Tropical Storm Victor

Tropical Storm Victor is continuing to move northwestward over the eastern tropical Atlantic.

The storm’s winds are near 60 mph.

Forecasters said some slight strengthening will be possible through Friday night.

The storm is expected begin to weaken over the weekend.
