DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, Fla. - Risk to human life is very real as Hurricane Irma encroaches on Florida, but it isn't only people affected by the storm.
An injured pelican was rescued by the Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety Sunday.

According to the agency's social media accounts, the injured bird will ride out the storm alongside officers at the department station.
