Demi Lovato's Atlantic City concert cancelled following possible overdose

Demi Lovato will not perform Thursday as previously scheduled for the Atlantic City BeachFest Concert Series after being hospitalized from a possible overdose Tuesday.

"Demi's Atlantic City appearance on July 26th has been canceled in light of (Tuesday's) news," the event's website advises. "Tickets will be valid to attend the Lauv performance on July 26th along with The Chainsmokers show on July 29th as part of the Atlantic City BeachFest Concert Series. Refunds are also available at point of purchase if preferred."

"I Like Me Better" singer Lauv has gone from Lovato's opening act to Thursday's headliner.

Likewise, Tuesday's episode of the game show "Beat Shazam" hosted by Jamie Foxx was set to feature Lovato but was pulled and replaced, according to Entertainment Tonight and Entertainment Weekly. USA TODAY has reached out to FOX for comment.

Lovato was on the mind of fellow artists, who expressed their love on Twitter as well as on-stage.

Charlie Puth and Macklemore showed support during their respective shows Tuesday night. While serenading a crowd in Camden, New Jersey, Puth dedicated "See You Again" to Lovato. "I hope she makes a quick, quick recovery and our prayers are with her..." Puth told the crowd.

Meanwhile, in Boston, Macklemore, who has been outspoken of his own addiction struggles, dedicated his song "Otherside" to Lovato. "I just want to send prayers and my thoughts and love out to Demi Lovato," the "Good Old Days" artist said. "When we have this disease of addiction, that ties us addicts together, and that's my sister in recovery."

Lovato was awake and alert Tuesday following reports of her hospitalization, rep Nicole Perna confirmed to USA TODAY.

"Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support," Perna said in a statement to USA TODAY. "Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now."

The Los Angeles Police Department told USA TODAY that at 11:37 a.m. Tuesday, authorities received a call from the 8000 block of Laurel View Drive. "We had a call out for possible overdose for a female approximately 25 years of age," Officer Ray Brown said.

LAPD would not confirm the woman's identity. Lovato, 25, owns a home in that area.

Last month, the singer released "Sober, " a regretful ballad that has Lovato apologizing to her family and fans, admitting, "I'm so sorry, I'm not sober anymore." In March, she celebrated being sober for six years at a concert in Brooklyn.

Lovato has struggled with an eating disorder, self-mutilation and other issues and entered rehab in 2010. She has spoken out about her battles over the years, detailing her recovery in the YouTube documentary "Simply Complicated," which was released last year.
