ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Sanford Burnham announced earlier this year that that its company would be gone by June, but that date has come and gone and it remains in Orlando.
The University of Florida has said it wants to take over the facility in Lake Nona, but the state still hasn’t given the OK.
The company said the funding for research just wasn't as good as it hoped, and it was time to move back home to California.

Sanford Burnham was given more than $300 million in tax incentives to move to Florida.
However Gov. Rick Scott’s office must approve the business to leave and for the University of Florida to take over the facility.
A spokesperson told Channel 9’s Shannon Butler that Sanford Burnham and the University of Florida have to get the OK from the Board of Trustees, the Board of Governors and the Legislature.
Officials at the University of Florida told Eyewitness News that if the transfer takes too much longer, the university’s plans to move into the facility will be in jeopardy.
However, the Legislature isn't even back in session again until next year.
