Deputies: Man Killed In Shooting At Apartment

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — Orange County deputies say a man was killed and another was injured in a drive-by shooting at an apartment complex on Saturday night.

The shooting happened around 11:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the Grande Pointe Apartments off of Rio Grande Avenue.

Deputies said 19-year-old Collins Solomon was shot and killed Saturday night as he, his brother and a friend were walking to a party.

WFTV spoke with his brother, Jeff, who says a man started chasing them, and then opened fire.

"Dude just rushed out of nowhere and started shooting. Shot my brother down for no reason," he said.

He said the shooter jumped in a car and sped away.

Witnesses said they saw two cars that might be involved in the shooting, one is a black van, the other is a black Chevy Caprice.

Deputies said Solomon was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other, whose identity has not been released, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Detectives say the area was heavily searched immediately following the shooting, but no suspect was located.

Investigators spent hours interviewing many of the people who were at the party in hopes of finding out what might have led up to the attack.
