1 woman killed, another injured in shooting at Lakeland gas station

LAKELAND, Fla. — Lakeland police say a fight at a night club may have led to a shooting Saturday morning that left one woman dead and another injured.

Officers were called to Rumors night club on East Memorial Boulevard just after 2 a.m. to clear the parking lot after several fights were reported.

Around 15 minutes later, police responded to a shooting at the Chevron gas station just to the west of the club where they say a large crowd had gathered.

That’s where police found one victim, identified as 39-year-old Andrea Dixon, in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.

She was taken to Lakeland Regional Health and pronounced dead just after 3 a.m.

Police were the notified by Lakeland Regional Health that another victim had been dropped off at the emergency room with gunshot wounds to the hip and arm.

Police identified the second victim as 34-year-old Johnetha Ragins who they say was in the parking lot at the Chevron when she was shot.

Police are not sure whether either of the two women were the intended targets of the shooting.

Multiple witnesses said the crowd at the Chevron station had spilled over from the earlier fights at Rumors and that the shots fired into the crowd came from a passing vehicle.

Police released no information on a possible suspect.
