2 men rescued from Lake Harney after boat capsizes

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Two men whose boat capsized in Seminole County’s Lake Harney are safe thanks to a rescue effort by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and the Seminole County Fire Department.

Deputies said one of the boaters called 911 about 11:15 a.m. Monday saying he and his friend were in the water and holding on to their capsized boat.

The caller said the boat suddenly began taking on water and overturned within 10 minutes.

The Sheriff’s Office helicopter dropped inflatable to the men so they could stay afloat, and then guided the rescue team to the men’s location.

The men made it back to land safely.
