2 students arrested in bomb hoax at DeLand Middle School, police say

DELAND, Fla. — Two DeLand Middle School students have been arrested after they made a fake bomb threat to students at DeLand Middle School, police said.

The two male juveniles face charges of making a false report concerning planting a bomb, an explosive or weapon of mass destruction, or concerning the use of firearms in a violent manner, police said. Police have not released their names.

The bomb hoax was made to the school shortly after noon Monday, police said. The boys called 911 and said they had a bomb and were going to shoot up the school, police said.

The students were arrested at the middle school.

A school lockdown has been lifted, police said.
