9 Investigates violent Universal Studios' Islands of Adventure stabbing

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — The victim of a violent stabbing at Universal Studios’ Islands of Adventure is still in a coma and the suspect is in jail, charged with attempted murder.

JoAnn Ferguson is only concerned about her husband Glenn’s recovery, but one of the big questions in the incident is this: How did the suspect get into the park?

Fredrick Torres, 33, was fired by Fasen Arts on New Year’s Eve. The company is an independent vendor inside Islands of Adventure.

The next day, Torres was able to return to the park and allegedly used a pair of scissors to repeatedly stab Glenn Ferguson in the head and neck.

Universal Studios declined to comment on how Torres gained entry to the park -- if he used his security badge or was able to get in via another employee or contractor -- citing the ongoing investigation by the Orlando Police Department.

Police have video of the attack from the park and witnesses, but would not release it because of the ongoing investigation.

JoAnn Ferguson said doctors will not wake her husband from sedation after undergoing brain surgery for seven to 14 days.

Torres was being held at the Orange County Jail without bond on a charge of first-degree attempted murder.
