911 calls detail scene where man stabbed wife, hit her with car before killing children

Newly released 911 calls detail the moment a man ran down two good Samaritans and his wife after he had stabbed her outside a Chili’s restaurant.

Sunday night’s killing spree began at the restaurant and stretched across Seminole County.

Investigators said Henry Brown killed his wife, Chericia Brown, 31, then later killed his two young children and himself.

The first 911 call came in at 10:01 p.m. Sunday.

Dispatcher: “What’s going on there?”

Caller: “There is a female getting beat up by a man in the parking lot.”

While on the phone, the called quickly learned from others at the scene that Chercia had been stabbed.

Dispatcher: “Is he still around?”

Caller: “He just took off in a purple Scion down Lake Emma.”

According to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, the first deputy arrived on scene at 10:03 p.m.

Meanwhile, a second 911 call from a server at the Chili’s came into dispatch.

She said she was standing right next to Chericia as off-duty Orange County firefighter Caroline Dortan and an unidentified nurse were tending to the victim.

Dispatcher: “Is she awake?”

Caller: “She’s awake. She keep saying, ‘Help me, help me.’ She’s not being very responsive.”

Dispatcher: “OK. How long ago did this happen?”

Caller: “I think it just happened. Somebody was saying…”

From that point, the call became inaudible as witnesses said Brown rammed a car over his estranged wife and the two people helping her.

Screaming can be heard in the background, but the waitress remained calm and continued talking to the dispatcher.

Caller: “A car, we believe it’s the gentleman, probably just ran off the road and slammed into her and two other people.”

Dispatcher: “How many patients do we have now?”

Caller: “Three. Three total now.”

The waitress told the dispatcher she barely made it out of the way of the car.

Deputies said after hitting Chericia, Brown picked up his two young children from a babysitter’s home and went to the hospital, where a shootout with police ensued.

Brown sped off, and a short time later, deputies found the truck with Brown and his two children dead inside.

Deputies believe he killed them and then himself.

Chericia died at the hospital.
