APD: Man arrested after shooting in Dunkin' Donuts he was trying to rob

APOPKA, Fla. — A man is behind bars after Apopka police say he shot at a Dunkin’ Donuts employee as she arrived to work early Saturday.

Robby Whittaker, 18, was arrested on charges of attempted homicide, robbery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed firearm and use of a firearm during a felony.

Apopka police arrived at the Dunkin’ Donuts on Main Street near city hall around 5 a.m. after an employee called 911 and said shots had been fired during an armed robbery.

A second employee told police that a man holding a handgun approached her as she arrived to work.

The man told her not to say anything, but she began screaming.

That’s when he fired three shots at her, which struck the building, before running away, the woman said.

Police established a perimeter and tracked Whittaker down, arresting him and taking him to the Orange County jail.
