Apopka postal worker caught on camera tossing packages onto resident's porch

APOPKA, Fla. — A woman told Channel 9 that she’s outraged that her Apopka neighborhood postal worker continues to toss her fragile mail and packages onto her porch.

Surveillance video caught the postal worker walking up near to the porch and tossing the package a couple of feet, then walking away.

Heather Eberhardt recorded the postal worker throwing the two packages onto her porch earlier this month.

Channel 9 showed the video to several customers at the Apopka post office Tuesday.

One customer, who said she worked in the delivery business for 30 years, was shocked.

“This could be mom's package, and the care is not there like it used to be,” said customer Donna Frantz.

But packages being thrown aren't the only complaints Channel 9 has heard.

Alexandra Simons said she's been getting the wrong mail for three years.

“You never know who you're going to get. What's going to happen? It's ridiculous,” Simons said.

Simons said the post office hasn't done anything, despite her multiple complaints.

“I just brought two pieces, and one was a bill for someone else,” she said. “I'm fed up. I'm about to go higher, and now I have you.”

Channel 9's Cuthbert Langley showed the video and took Simons' complaints to the post office's supervisor, who would not speak with Langley.

“This needs to stop. If people like us did something wrong, we'd be getting in trouble, getting fired,” said Simons.

Instead, post office representative Enola C. Rice wrote in an email: "The Postal Service’s goal is to provide excellent service to our customers. We were disappointed to learn about the concerns of these customers. We are following up and will take appropriate action. We ask customers with mail concerns to contact the postmaster so that we can address and resolve their concerns quickly."
