Apopka teacher accused of sending 129,000 inappropriate texts to student

APOPKA, Fla. — An Orange County teacher is facing criminal charges after investigators said she sent more than 100,000 inappropriate text messages to a female student.

Alyson London, 44, bonded out of jail and is facing at least a half dozen charges.

Investigators said an anonymous tip to the Department of Children and Families sparked the investigation more than a month ago.

Police said London, who teaches at Apopka Memorial Middle school, exchanged 129,000 sexually explicit text messages with a 14-year-old student.

Investigators said some of the text messages included discussions about sex, rape, drugs and abuse.

London’s relationship with her former student began last year and continued until the end of September even though the victim is now in high school, investigators said.

Documents said the victim told London she was sexually abused at the high school, but said London never reported the abuse because she feared it would jeopardize her friendship with the underage student.

Police said both the student and London denied the sexual relationship.
