ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. — The armored truck guard who was shot in the face during an Altamonte Springs Publix robbery returned home from the hospital Wednesday.
Marcos Rivera, 34, was seriously wounded in an October robbery at the store across from the Altamonte Mall.
Rivera's mouth is wired shut and he is still in some pain.
The support and care I've been receiving has motivated me to get out of this situation and continue with my life as God intended me to," Rivera told Channel 9's Tim Barber.
Rivera offered his thanks to his family, his doctors and to those who sent him prayers.
"They have been heard and I'm glad to see people I don't know pull with me," he said.
Rivera's family said the bullet that struck him is still lodged near his spine.
Rivera was shot while walking out of the Publix during a money pickup.
Lil Burtie Willis, 23, is in jail, charged in the shooting.
