Bill Clinton campaigns for Hillary in South Florida

Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton was scheduled to attend a Riviera Beach rally Monday, but a tight race in Nevada caused her to send her husband and former president, Bill Clinton, instead.

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. — The move comes as the former Secretary of State battles with Democratic rival Bernie Sanders in the Silver State.

The move to send former President Clinton to the Riviera Beach rally allows Hillary Clinton’s campaign to get a head start in Florida and focus on states with sooner primary elections.

Florida’s March 15 primary is still a month away, while Nevada’s Democratic primary will take place on Feb. 20.

Hillary Clinton and Sanders are both trying to capture the predominantly African-American vote in places like Riviera Beach in South Florida, where Democrats tend to have a stronger showing.

Former President George W. Bush was campaigning for his brother, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, in South Carolina Monday.
