Bones found might be those of Flagler County woman missing since 2011

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. — Human remains found last Wednesday are in the same area where deputies have searched for a woman who disappeared in 2014, Flagler County deputies confirmed to Channel 9's Cuthbert Langley.

Michael Annicchiarico is serving a life sentence after pleading no contest to second-degree murder in 2014. He was accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Mandy Ciehanoski, in Volusia County in 2011.

Annicchiarico told deputies he buried her body in a wooded area in southern Flagler County. He agreed to show deputies the area, but when they searched in 2014, no remains were found.

Mandy Ciehanoski’s mother, Debra, said time has not made it easier for her.

”It sticks with you. It stays with you. It doesn't go away,” said Debra Ciehanoski. “It was hard to watch, because the way I had pictured it in my head of her being alone, cold, dirty on the ground.”

A homeowner discovered the remains near Ashford Lakes Drive after crashing his drone last Wednesday.

“It was like the inside of my head was spinning and spinning. I couldn't talk,” Debra Ciehanoski said. “My gut tells me it's her, and she will finally come home.”

Investigators said it’s too early to know the age or gender of the remains. However, a spokesperson for the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said they’re “very interested” to learn whether the remains are in fact those of Ciehanoski.

“She will be cremated and I will have my baby at home with me,” Ciehanoski said.

Investigators said it will be several weeks before DNA test results are returned.
