Brevard County woman accused of running over boyfriend near strip club

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — The girlfriend of a Brevard County man who was run over outside a strip club on New Year’s Day has been charged with attempted murder.

Early New Year’s Day, deputies said that Amara Stockard, 25, and her boyfriend were in the West Melbourne area where they’d just left a gentleman’s club.

Witnesses heard arguing and saw a man exit Stockard’s vehicle on West New Haven Avenue.

Court records said Stockard told investigators “She followed in her vehicle” and later said she “recalled looking in her rearview mirror and observed Mr. Redden lying on the ground.”

Witnesses said Stockard accelerated and drove over the curb at the entranceway to Ashley’s Furniture, where the victim was struck.

A witness called 911.
"He's breathing, but he's not in good shape," the caller told the dispatcher.

Witnesses said Stockard attempted to lift the victim up saying police were coming, but they told her not to move him.

The victim, who suffered a head injury, was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center.

Stockard faced a judge Tuesday on first-degree attempted murder, aggravated battery and driving under the influence.

If she’s able to bond out, she’s been ordered to stay away from the victim.

Investigators said the victim remains in the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
