Burglars target bongs and liquor in Osceola County thefts

POINCIANA, Fla. — Investigators said two teenagers accused of going on a burglary spree in Osceola County weren't after money.  Instead, authorities said, they targeted bongs, liquor and baseball caps.

Channel 9’s Steve Barrett recovered surveillance video that deputies said shows the suspects in action, smashing a window and stealing items from a smoke shop in Poinciana two weeks ago.

After a month-long rash of burglaries, authorities were able to apprehend two suspects.

“They came into the business, took several items and left,” said Twis Lizasuain of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. “(They) then returned about 11 minutes later.”

On the second trip , the two suspects explored even deeper in the store, boldly taking what they wanted from the P3 Smoke Shop, which sits next to a busy Publix shopping plaza.

Police arrested Kadarius Saunders, 16, and Ryan Bodden, 15, in connection with the case.

Police said the two also broke into a liquor store in the same plaza and two other nearby businesses.

Video of the smoke shop burglary shows one of burglars inside the store handing the delicate glass bongs to his partner outside.

The store manager said the damage and stolen goods adds up to about $3,000.

Police didn’t go into detail about the teens’ criminal records, but they said they are well-known to deputies in the area.
