Central Florida brides without dresses after Alfred Angelo closures

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — After 80 years, bridal store Alfred Angelo has closed its doors nationwide. Future brides and bridesmaids are now scrambling without their dresses and without answers.

The sign on the Altamonte Springs location reads, “Store closed.”

Channel 9's Julie Salomone spoke to many brides who stopped by the store looking for answers.

Some are without their wedding gowns; others are waiting on their bridesmaid dresses.

Future brides said the shop shut down without notice Thursday. Some future brides and bridesmaids told Eyewitness News that they’ve already paid for their dresses or put down a deposit.

Alfred Angelo Bridal had nearly 60 locations across the country.

“I think it’s unbelievable the fact you can have a national chain with so much responsibility for peoples’ happiness go under with no notice,” said soon-to-be bride Kimberly Moy.

Moy got a letter from the company's attorney that read Alfred Angelo has been left with no alternative but to file bankruptcy. It goes on to read the company regrets that this action will have dramatic impact on brides.

“I thought, ‘That can’t be. I paid. I was there on Sunday, and next thing I knew I called the store and it kept on ringing and ringing,” Moy said.

Moy’s wedding is nearly six months months out.

Another soon-to-be bride, Ericka Puccio, told Eyewitness News that she has two of her five bridesmaid dresses.
