Clermont man's wife reports him to deputies for child pornography

CLERMONT, Fla. — A man was arrested Friday on child pornography charges after the suspect's wife contacted authorities about suspicious images of children she believed her husband took.

Lake County deputies said the wife of Adam Mullin confronted him about images of children at a water park she believed he had taken. When she confronted him about it, he admitted to having child pornography on his computer, but would not give her the password for it, investigators said.

The suspect's wife contacted authorities, who subsequently made contact with Mullin. Investigators said Mullin, 43, admitted to his possession of child pornography and provided deputies with the password to his computer.

"We rarely see something like that. A lot of times they will lawyer up or not give us the password," Lake County Sgt. Fred Jones said.

Deputies said Mullin told them the pictures of children were from 2013, but they were all wearing bathing suits. He said he had been downloading child pornography onto his personal computer.

Mullin told deputies he had sought professional help for his urges, but it did not help.

"He has no previous arrests or anything of that nature. Sometimes it takes what the wife did to be caught," Jones said.

Mullin provided a written statement that he had images and videos of girls between the age of 7 and 16 years old. He said he had a large amount of pornography saved on his computer, but only several videos of child pornography.

Deputies said Mullin told them he never shared any videos and has never had the urge to touch a child.

Channel 9 learned that the couple has a young daughter.

"We want to make sure that no children were victims or anything of that nature, so it's going to be an ongoing investigation," Jones said.

Mullin is charged with one count of possession of child pornography.

Deputies said they confiscated a computer, cellphone and a thumb drive, which could lead to more charges.
