Coast Guard rescues jet skier stranded in Bahamas for 2 days

MIAMI — A U.S. Coast Guard crew rescued a stranded jet skier Monday in the Abaco Islands in the Bahamas.

The Royal Bahamas Defense Force requested assistance from the Coast Guard at about 4 p.m. Monday after receiving a report of a stranded jet skier.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew was deployed to Great Inagua, Bahamas, from the air station in Clearwater, officials said.

The helicopter crew hoisted the jet skier, who was transferred ashore to the Royal Bahamas Defense Force.

The jet skier said he was stranded in the Abaco Islands for two days after his jet ski malfunctioned.
