ORLANDO, Fla. — Officials in Seminole County have approved an agreement that will give Orlando's incoming Major League Soccer franchise use of the county's existing training facility.
The unanimous vote by the Seminole County Board of Commissioners Tuesday allows Orlando City Soccer Club the exclusive use of two of the six fields at Lake Sylvan Park. The county also agrees to make a contribution toward the Lions' planned new stadium downtown Orlando, scheduled to open for the 2016 MLS season.
In exchange, Orlando City agrees to build four new soccer fields for community use in Seminole County and to create new community soccer programs.
Orlando City Youth Soccer currently operates the Seminole Soccer Complex, featuring 11 full-size soccer fields.
