VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — DeLand police officers are investigating a shooting Thursday afternoon in the area of Parsons and Walts avenues.
Police were called to the neighborhood around 2 p.m.
Police said Trevon Taylor, 30, was shot and killed and the shooter and the weapon have been recovered.
Taylor's family told Channel 9's Janine Reyes that their son got into an argument with a group of people a few days ago and a man threatened to kill him.
Police said they took Juan Lopez, 18, of DeLand, into custody and they're questioning a second person.
Police have not released a motive for the deadly shooting.
Nearby Starke Elementary School was briefly on lockdown as police investigated.
