DEBARY, Fla. - A 19-year-old Deltona woman was killed when she was ejected from her SUV as it rolled over after failing to make a turn early Sunday, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office said.
Tori Otway died after her 2003 Ford Escape flipped over while turning onto South Shell Road from Benson Junction in DeBary around 1:10 a.m., deputies said.
Otway had been staying with a friend in DeBary when she drove home, deputies said.
As Otway turned, her SUV rolled onto its roof into a parking lot on South Shell Road before landing on its passenger side, ejecting her.
She wasn’t wearing a seat belt, deputies said.
Shell Road was closed for nine hours while deputies investigated the crash.
Deputies have not yet determined the cause of the crash.
