Deputies: Man impersonating officer tried to bring gun into Magic Kingdom

ORLANDO, Fla. — An armed man impersonating a police officer was arrested Monday at the entrance of Magic Kingdom, deputies said.

Kevin Webb, 42 tried to walk into Magic Kingdom at 8 a.m. The entrance to the park is now newly secured with metal detectors, which prompted an alleged admission from Webb when a security worker asked him to walk through.

The arrest report said the Arkansas native owned up to having a firearm in his right front pocket immediately and showed something in his wallet to the security officer, trying to indicate he was a police officer.

“He self-admitted that he had a firearm with him,” said Jeff Williamson of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Webb allegedly told the security worker and an Orange County deputy that he was a police officer.

Then, he allegedly changed his story, saying he was a retired law enforcement officer, and he was allowed to carry his gun for five years after retirement.

The deputy called the Sherwood Police Department in Arkansas and was told that Webb had not been employed by the department for several years, and he should not have the credentials in his possessions.

The officer also allegedly told the deputy that the would-be officer was fired, and not retired.

“We are glad that we had an astute person there at Disney (and) an astute deputy at that scene that was able to prevent someone who should not have been at the park with a firearm,” said Williamson.

Webb was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of impersonating an officer and carrying a concealed firearm.
