SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. - A man accused of trying to speed away from Seminole County deputies in a stolen car is facing charges Friday morning.
Deputies said they first spotted the suspicious car near Ronald Reagan Boulevard, but when they tried to stop the driver, he hit the gas.
The short chase ended when deputies used stop sticks to disable the car about a mile away.
The driver first tried to get away by jumping into Lake Mobile, but gave up a short time later.
The man's name was not released.
There was a female passenger in the car as well, but she is not facing charges, deputies said.
