Deputies: Masked intruders pistol-whip woman, teenage boy in Deltona home

DELTONA, Fla. — Two masked intruders stormed a home late Thursday in Deltona, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

The armed men walked into an open garage shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Digarmo Terrace near Saxon and Providence boulevards, Sheriff's Office spokesman Gary Davidson said.

The intruders confronted a 19-year-old woman and a 16-year-old boy and pistol-whipped them before entering the interior of the home, Davidson said.

Deputies said the boy's head was cut. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, but he has since been released.

Deputies said the intruders confronted an 18-year-old man while they were going through the home. They said a struggle ensued and one of the guns went off, leaving a bullet lodged in a wall.

The intruders fled the home and remain at large, Davidson said.

"We're still investigating to ascertain whether anything was taken," Davidson said. "But detectives have determined that this wasn't a random incident."

The identities of the people involved weren't immediately released.

The incident remains under investigation.

No other details were given.
