Man shoots 2 in Pine Hills apartment, kills self on Christmas Day

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. - Orange County deputies said they are investigating a Christmas Day fatal shooting in a Pine Hills apartment complex.

The shooting happened around 5:15 p.m. at an apartment complex on Royal Lake Circle off West Colonial Drive.

A man who one of the female residents knew showed up outside an apartment armed with a gun, officers said.

"He was at the front door, knocked on it, and then fired some rounds through that front door. When the door did not open, he went over to the window at the side of the apartment, fired some more rounds into that window, broke that window and ended up burglarizing that residence, said Lt. Paul Hopkins of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Once inside, deputies said the man in his 30s shot two men inside the apartment.

One man died and the other was taken to the hospital.

But deputies said the shooter was not yet finished.

"It appears after he shot those two that he took his own life inside the apartment, said Hopkins.

John Holladay has lived in the development for four years, and he said his complex is usually quiet.

"On Christmas Day, it's sad really. You know, just sad," said Holladay.

The names of those involved were not released.
