Deputies: Toddler hit by CSX train in Pasco County dies

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. — Authorities say a CSX train hit a 2-year-old child and a woman northeast of Tampa.

Deputies said the child died from his injuries.

Local news outlets are reporting the incident happened just before noon Monday in Zephyrhills.

Pasco County Sheriff's spokeswoman Melanie Snow said in an email the 26-year-old woman and the child were flown to area hospitals, where the child died.

The woman is in stable condition.

Deputies said the woman was babysitting the child.

Officials did not release identifications of the victims. They said the Pasco County fire chief and sheriff's staff were at the scene.
